ACRYLIC: Modern paint meets innovative technique
Despite the fact that it's a relatively new art medium that has only been around since the 1950s, acrylic has reached record
popularity with both artists and art collectors. It's versatile, brilliant, and durable. Rohde has mastered the intricacies of acrylic to
produce exciting original paintings with distinctive texture and vibrant color. Her own individual techniques give her
creations a three dimensional appearance that is irresistible to both your eyes and your fingertips!
Acrylic is arguably the most verstatile type of painting
Acrylic is a water-based paint containing pigment (powdered color material) dispersed within an acrylic polymer liquid emulsion.
Acrylic paint brands range in consistency from very thin (like watercolor) to very thick (like oil paint). Rohde prefers acrylic paint
that is very similar to oils. In fact,
customers frequently mistake her acrylic paintings for oil paintings! The main difference between the two is that acrylics dry
faster, so the artist has more creative freedom to achieve certain visual effects through layering.
Rohde has developed a unique
palette of particularly bright acrylic paints with which she can convey the true beauty of her subject.
Her canvases are stretched linen. She uses only the highest quality art materials so
that your new acrylic painting will stand the test of time.
Care and framing of Rohde acrylic paintings
Your original Rohde acrylic painting or portrait arrives beautifully varnished and ready to hang on your wall right out of the box! No framing required!
However, if you prefer a frame, choose an "open" one with no mat or glass for best presentation of the artwork. Once hung in a
safe place, your new original acrylic painting will require nothing more
than an occasional
dusting to keep it looking good. Don't spray anything on the painting when you clean. Rather, dust it gently with a soft, dry, lint-free
cloth or brush.
