Would you like to have your own Eight Belles ORIGINAL painting? Rohde accepts custom orders! Have questions? Please visit our ordering information page or contact us!
Eight Belles (Unbridled's Song x Away) made history at Oaklawn Park by being the first filly in the track's history to win the Martha Washington Stakes, the Honeybee Stakes, and the Fantasy Stakes. Eight Belles' gallant second place finish as the only filly in a field of 20 horses in the 2008 Kentucky Derby impressed all who watched. What a tragedy it was when she became fatally injured just past the finish line. Artist Heather Rohde created this vibrant portrait as a tribute to this beautiful grey horse, showing Eight Belles on the day of her courageous Derby race. May she never be forgotten. Quote on bottom of piece reads: "Her heart carried her to a place beyond where her legs were meant to go". This Eight Belles art is a great Triple Crown or Kentucky Derby collectible for anyone who admires great Thoroughbreds. You can purchase Eight Belles as a standard unframed limited edition or framed in a beautiful black solid wood designer frame with an antique white mat. Eight Belles is also available as a deluxe canvas giclée version that has been hand-stretched over a pine support and beautifully presented in a solid wood double-tone brown frame. Ready to hang on your wall right out of the box! Your Eight Belles horse racing art is hand signed and numbered by the artist and is of exceptional quality. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
