Afleet Alex (Northern Afleet x Maggy Hawk by Hawkster) was an exceptional, well-loved and inspirational Thoroughbred racehorse who came very close to winning the Triple Crown in 2005. He was the winner of 8 races in 12 starts. His dramatic victory in the 2005 Preakness Stakes was voted the "Moment of the Year" by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. Afleet Alex won the Eclipse Award for Champion Three-Year-Old Colt and finished second to Sain Liam in the Horse of the Year balloting. A portion of the colt's earnings were generously donated to charity.
